7 Quick Takes Friday (set #29)

7 Quick Takes Friday

This week: An amazing vocation video. Seven young men called to the priesthood, answer questions. The presence is real…   in both cases. A simple graphic on the bounds of choice. Pro-abortion and gay “marriage” students demonstrate tolerance. The general perception of severely autistic people may be quite inaccurate. The personal generosity of those quick to redistribute the wealth of others.

— 1 —

Wow! This may be the most amazing vocation video I have seen. Powerful.

Thanks go to Marcel for this one.

— 2 —

Answering the call to the priesthood – questions and answers by 7 young men in the Diocese of Rockville Centre (New York / Long Island):

Marcel is on a roll!

— 3 —

The presence is real…   in both cases…

— 4 —

Not Your Choice

— 5 —

All pro-abortion, pro-sodomy forces ask for is acceptance (“equality” to moral acts), tolerance and understanding. In this video, you will see Brown University students powerfully display those virtues so that we may be converted:

For the full story, see TFP Student Action. Thanks to Fr. Tim Finigan at The hermeneutic of continuity for this one.

— 6 —

Severe “low functioning” autism, serious developmental issues, behavioral wildness, hopelessness. Why do those so afflicted act the way they do? What do they think? Do they grasp anything about their surroundings? You may be surprised…

Thanks Mark Shea for this one.

— 7 —

Many liberal college students favor redistribution of wealth from the rich (always viewed as not themselves) and transferring it to others. If it was something THEY worked for, perhaps they would not be quite as magnanimous. How could this hypothesis be tested? Propose the redistribution of GPA from the top students to those in need:

Redistribution of wealth is socialism, NOT Catholic social justice. St. John Chrysostom to our recent Holy Fathers have been clear.

Thanks go to Matthew at Creative Minority Report for finding this video.

7 Quick Takes Friday (set #28)

7 Quick Takes Friday

This week: An Easter film for teens and young adults. Only 22 days left before judgment day. The joy of pregnancy with twins then the loss of one…   or not. Fact: 97.6% of the time the “reproductive service” pregnant women receive from Planned Parenthood is abortion. A really good explanation of the harm from Harry Potter. Lying is so mainstream that it can now be done professionally. Contrition, not just for people.

— 1 —

Last Sunday was Easter. What happened? What was that about? Bob Rice (Franciscan University at Steubenville) wrote a short film for teens and young adults. Background and information:

…and the final result:

See their website for more information. Thanks go to Matthew at Creative Minority Report for finding this video.

But of that day and hour no one knows, neither the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone. (Matthew 24:36)   …and FamilyRadio.com. They believe judgment day is May 21, 2011 (followed by the destruction of the world on October 21, 2011). They mean well.

— 3 —

The birth of twins is happy and joyous, unless as in this case, one died shortly after birth. Baby Jamie was given to his mother to say goodbye. She held him close for 2 hours, expecting reflexive gasps from his lifeless body as she had been prepared. Yet after holding him and grieving for some time…

— 4 —

Just to be clear (because they work feverishly to obfuscate the truth), a Planned Parenthood fact: if you are pregnant and go there, you will not be when you leave (2009 statistic: 97.6% abortion rate for the pregnant women they get their tentacles into). Another fact – what if you are NOT pregnant but just want a mammogram? They lie and don’t do that either.

— 5 —

I thought the whole morality of Harry Potter issue was ancient news. Those who speak against it often appear as fanatical, extremists on the fringe of Christianity. There is a good point to be made however and Father Don Calloway explains it very well:

Thanks to Jeff Gares over at the Courageous Priest for this one. He previously posted another excellent piece from Father Jim Costigan which is well worth reading.

— 6 —

Speaking of morality and ends justified by the means, consider professional lying. This company offers fake references for your job search, including fake companies backed by fake websites, offices and personnel. Branching out, they also offer fake references for landlords and fake excuses for taking off work (their “Funeral Excuse” service). Sin is relative, right?

Temptation, sin, guilt, shame, punishment. Not just the struggles of people:

7 Quick Takes Friday

This week: A failed abortion yields life, pro-aborts say pro-lifers are “hateful” and “extremists” – you judge, not all governments align themselves with the culture of death, a glimpse into the folks we encounter in public, elementary school principal has determined that Jesus name is “offensive,” kids and the technology you used.

— 1 —

An abortion that missed one. This is a powerful story:

Thanks for this one go to Jen Fulwiler. I don’t usually use items I found in Jen’s 7QTF as part of my 7QTF traffic comes from there, but I just had to include this one for everyone else.

— 2 —

Pro-abort’s and their media allies say pro-lifers are “hateful” and “extremists.” They are half-right. In this battle of the moral and immoral, one side may fit that description. Which one? You decide:

— 3 —

Not all governments are firmly in the clutches of the culture of death as our is (hopefully not too much longer). At least one government produces and broadcasts pro-life ads!

Another great find from Marcel.

— 4 —

Keep to yourself, don’t look at other people and whatever you do – don’t talk to them. That seems to be the rule for big city survival. Instead of trying to ignore them, this video sought to learn a little about random people on the NYC subway:

The only sad note in this otherwise uplifting video are the answers to the question “what is the meaning of life?” Only one person (a Jehovah’s Witness) saw a bigger picture not centered on self or being a “good person.”

— 5 —

Jesus name is “offensive” and a violation of the (imagined) separation of church and state doctrine according to the Superior Street Elementary School principal in Chatsworth, CA. She objected to a talent show song chosen by a disabled 5th grader because it made reference to Jesus. She backed-down only after a lawsuit AND national coverage. I bet there would have been absolutely no issue if the name were Muhammad.

— 6 —

You are old (probably). At least, you are old compared with these kids. Watch as they explore the technology you used a few years ago and attempt to deduce its purpose:

Saturday Evening Blog Post

Elizabeth Esther kindly hosts a feature she calls The Saturday Evening Blog Post. Published monthly every first Saturday, it features the best post in the preceding month on each of a few dozen Christian blogs. The “best” entries are chosen by the authors themselves (so they should know!).

It is a great way to discover new blogs. Be sure to check-it out. My entry for last month was Only prayer.

7 Quick Takes Friday

This week: Students for Life – hope through our youth, respect life at every age, Abby Johnson exposes PP motives, PP tries to hide an ambulance (after a botched abortion), PP claims they do mammograms – really?, “bipolar” baby (scared then laughing) and the unicorns’ memo to Noah on the mix-up.

— 1 —

This is an uplifting video from Students for Life. There is hope. The good guys can win…

— 2 —

The Spanish bishops’ national conference produced this beautiful video in support of life for their 2011 Campaign for Life:

— 3 —

Another informative CatholicVote.org video. Abby Johnson reveals the truth about Planned Parenthood:

— 4 —

Pp Botched Ambulance

It is hard to hide an ambulance. This one is taking another Planned Parenthood victim (this time the mother) to the hospital after a botched abortion. It wasn’t raining, the umbrellas and poster boards were meant to hide what was happening from the public. Abortion is anything but safe (especially for the child and sometimes the mother).

— 5 —

Planned Parenthood claims that they must be funded or women will lose access to basic health services such as mammograms. That $350M of taxpayer funds is crucial (try not to think of the $104M they spend on lobbying and fundraising). Lila Rose at Live Action checked the facts (the mainstream media sure won’t):

How can something so scary (mommy blowing her nose) one moment, also be so hilarious the next?

7 Quick Takes Friday

This week: A St. Patrick’s Day flash mob. Walk for “Choice” pro-aborts speak up. Ethicist explains our moral obligation to keep only the smart via IVF. Adoration U. Shining moments in socialized medicine. General Petraeus following Charlie Sheen’s tactics says a US Congressperson.

— 1 —

St. Patrick’s Day flash mob:

— 2 —

The good people over at CatholicVote.org have produced another great video. Actually, they didn’t do much at all. They simply took a camera and recorded Planned Parenthood supporters. What more needs to be said?

— 3 —

There is an exciting new development in the world of (secular) morality from the Australian Director of the Oxford Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics. Professor Julian Savulescu has determined that it is our “moral obligation” to choose only the most intelligent embryos via IVF. Advanced ethical thinking combined with modern medicine will surely bring us all a brighter, happier tomorrow.

— 4 —

The Cardinal Newman Society is promoting Eucharistic Adoration through a campaign they call Adoration U. Thanks to Matthew Archbold at Creative Minority Report for the pointer:

— 5 —

Comrades, rejoice in more triumphs of socialized medicine! Baby Joseph is not a unique case. (He is the baby that the Canadian “healthcare” system did its level best to kill.) News now comes from the UK, of their “healthcare” system and a hospital born child found guilty of being born 12 days too early to qualify for care. He struggled for 46 minutes, shunned by the staff.

— 6 —

What is more outrageous from this congressperson – comparing American hero General David Petraeus‘ work to the antics of Charlie Sheen, or turning to Rolling Stone columnists for insight? Is this the representation the voters of Santa Rosa (Saint Rose) and San Rafael (Archangel Raphael) hoped for?

(This video is no longer available.)
